I’ve loved wearing my denim jacket over the years! She, yes my jacket is a she, has been that perfect layer piece to any outfit. I am sad to see her go, but it is time that I finally retire her. :(
She’s pretty banged up…elbows are worn through & holes are starting to creep up in all sorts of places. So I thought it would be fun to do a little DIY project and change her from this…
To this…
So first things first…gotta cut off those worn out sleeves! Bye bye elbow holes!!
I wanted a pretty clean look, so I cut the sleeves off right before the armhole seam. But if you wanted more of a frayed look, cut that armhole seam off completely and after a couple washings the threads will begin to fray.
Next up, time to add some fun hardware and accessories that I had laying around my house…
I’ve got here some safety pins, string, old buttons, beads, charms, pyramid rivets and this little tassel brooch that I made.
Now to make this tassel brooch all you need is some string, some kind of cap bead, a safety pin and a glue gun. Here is how I did it step by step…
And once the glue has completely set you can cut the end each thread and fan them out a bit until you get something that looks like this…
So once I had the placement figured out, I began to either pin or sew everything down.
I can’t believe how easy this was to do! I can’t wait to style my new vest over some of my cute summer dresses! Here are a few close up pictures to see how it turned out!
Hope you enjoyed this little DIY project!
Cheers!
